Testimonials
As a community, we strive to help each other strive more effectively. Here are some words from some who found inspiration and hope with COPE.
This helps me shape my frame of thought more than my other free time activities.
I think this is an incredibly promising project that I’m excited to be involved with.
This was a great way to spend an hour. Educational, interactive, and lasting.
Cope is critical to my sanity in med school and current/future resilience when encountering the inevitable rough patch.
I really loved having such a diverse group of people. It helped me gain a new perspective on each situation we discussed (and even lots of advice for the future!)
I am so happy to see this curriculum in place. Hearing the perspectives of people at different stages in small groups was particularly enlightening and helpful going forward.
The hour spent at session felt like a small but impactful investment in my professional and personal growth. I am so grateful!
Cope is an essential part of modern medical training, learning nuanced and necessary skills for better patient and self care.
Engaging with peers as compared to studying this material on my own proved to be more valuable and effective in learning to better evaluate and implement feedback.
I believe the group leaders ability to establish a space of secure vulnerability is helpful in encouraging others to share. I appreciate leaders who do this very well and are fluid in transitioning through different parts of the session.
Amazingly concentrated use of an hour to include the information and opportunity to practice it. Deeply encouraged that students are getting this input and the opportunity to share with peers about it.
I think this is one of the more valuable things that I do during the week. It helps clear my mind and helps me be more productive.
Cope continues to provide me with tangible, evidence based strategies to apply to my every day and help navigate the challenges I’m facing. There’s nothing else like it on campus.
I really like Cope! I look forward to it every week! And I tell my non-medical friends about the sessions just because they are helpful skills for all of life!
I really enjoy meeting people outside of my med school class and I think these are skills that are important to learn to be a thriving human being.
This is a great space for students to talk and share rather than being talked at. Please keep providing that as it’s unique and not currently provided much elsewhere in the curriculum.
My small group was very open about our struggles and how we’ve gone about addressing those. It was really reassuring to hear how other students have very similar values; it’s also always nice hearing people being open about their values and seeing how other people reflect on their experiences. Our small group leader was also a really great facilitator of discussion, so even though the topics were somewhat touchy/personal, the conversation didn’t feel strained at all.
Every time I have come I’ve learned something and have been glad that I made the time to be here.
Cope helps me ground my thoughts and think about things from a new perspective when I feel stuck!
It gave me an opportunity to self reflect and step away from the clutters of life.
Even when I feel the most busy during the day or week, Cope makes me realize that I can make time for the important things such as this and improving myself and learning from others around me.
I wish there were Cope sessions more often! I feel like this is a space I can be honest in without feeling judged.
I learned that how I feel is not who I am and I really needed that. I feel better prepared to start processing the hard emotions I’ve been feeling.
I really loved having such a diverse group of people (different career stages). It helped me gain a new perspective on each situation we discussed (and even lots of advice for the future).
I love Cope! As a first year med student, I feel comfortable in the Cope space to talk with my older more experienced peers.
It’s always nice to connect with others and share our common struggles. Something about knowing I’m not alone with these problems is very reassuring.
The break out sessions taught me about radical self-compassion and reminded me that I am not alone in worrying what everyone else thinks.
The small group sessions were amazing as always. I always value the community that comes from sharing common experiences and hearing ways others approach them. I always feel better after sharing as well.
I want to be a better human and better doctor!!!
I always feel better after I come to Cope.
